Lab & Precision Equipment Movers

Lab moves have two halves. Boxes, benches, and freezers are a moving job. The heavy, vibration-sensitive instruments — microscopes, NMR magnets, semiconductor tools, test stands — are a rigging job. We handle the rigging half: instruments rigged out, moved with shock and tilt control, and set where the vendor needs them.

Quick answer: Lab and precision equipment moving is the rigging and transport of heavy, sensitive instruments — electron microscopes, NMR systems, mass spectrometers, semiconductor process tools, and test equipment — between labs, buildings, or sites. Badass Logistics rigs these instruments with shock and tilt monitoring, coordinates with the equipment vendor and your EHS team, and sets them in place for recommissioning, while your general lab mover handles benches, boxes, and cold storage.

The heavy half of a lab move

Most lab relocation companies are excellent at packing chemicals, moving freezers without losing samples, and clearing benches. Where they call for help is the equipment that weighs thousands of pounds, sits on a vibration-isolated pad, and has a vendor who needs it within a tight shock limit — an electron microscope column, an NMR magnet, a semiconductor tool, an environmental chamber, a materials test frame.

That's rigging work, and it's the part we do. We walk the route with your facilities, EHS, and the instrument vendor: doorway and corridor widths, freight elevator ratings, floor loading on raised or suspended floors, cleanroom gowning and protocol, and what decontamination has to be certified before anyone touches the tool. The move plan follows the vendor's requirements for decommissioning, securing, and transport.

On move day, instruments are rigged on skates, jacks, or gantries with tilt and shock indicators in place, moved along protected paths, and set on their pads or isolation systems for the vendor to recommission. Moves between sites run as project freight on air-ride equipment, crated where the vendor calls for it.

Who does what on a lab equipment move

Lab moves go smoothly when every party knows exactly where their work starts and stops:

The instrument vendor

Decommissions, secures internal components, and recommissions and verifies the instrument after the move.

Your EHS and facilities teams

Decontamination sign-off, cleanroom and building access, utilities, and the new room's readiness.

Your lab mover

Benches, boxes, chemicals, and cold storage — the general relocation.

Badass Logistics

Route survey, rigging plan, protection, moving and setting the heavy and precision instruments, and freight between sites.

Protecting precision instruments in transit

Precision equipment rarely fails from a dramatic drop. It fails from accumulated vibration, a hard set-down, or a tilt past the vendor's limit. Our plans control those:

How a lab equipment move runs

  1. Walk with the vendorInstruments, routes, floors, cleanroom rules, and decon requirements reviewed.
  2. Rigging planHandling method, protection, monitoring, schedule, and roles documented.
  3. Decommission & secureVendor secures the instrument; decontamination is certified before rigging.
  4. Rig & moveInstrument rigged out and moved under monitoring — in building or between sites.
  5. Set for recommissioningPlaced on its pad or isolation system for the vendor to bring back online.

Lab equipment moving FAQ

Do you handle the whole lab relocation?
We handle the heavy and precision instruments that need rigging, and coordinate with your general lab mover for benches, boxes, chemicals, and cold storage.
Can you move an electron microscope?
Yes, working with the vendor who decommissions and recommissions it. We rig and move the system within the vendor's shock and tilt limits.
Do you move semiconductor tools in and out of fabs?
Yes — tool move-ins and move-outs following cleanroom protocol, with decontamination certified before rigging.
How do you protect sensitive instruments during a move?
Shock and tilt indicators, air-ride transport, planned routes, floor protection, and handling methods matched to the vendor's requirements.
Can you set equipment on raised floors or isolation pads?
Yes. We check floor ratings along the path and set instruments on pads or isolation systems as the vendor specifies.
