A press is a line of precision units that have to go back together in exactly the right order, at exactly the right height, lined up to each other. We tear presses and bindery lines down in sequence with your press technicians, rig and move every unit, and set them back on the floor ready for reassembly and registration.
Quick answer: Printing press movers relocate offset, web, digital, flexographic, and bindery equipment by disassembling the press in sequence, rigging and moving each unit, and setting it in the new layout for reassembly. Badass Logistics rigs and moves presses nationwide alongside your OEM or independent press technicians, with units tagged and photographed, cylinders and moving parts secured, and freight between plants planned as one project.
A sheetfed or web press isn't one machine. It's a feeder, a string of printing units, coaters and dryers, a delivery or folder, and a web of electrical, air, ink, and water connections tying them together. Each unit is heavy, tall, and top-heavy, and the whole line only works if every unit goes back at the right height and in line with the next. Move it like a single machine and you spend weeks on reassembly problems.
We plan press moves unit by unit. Before anything is disconnected, units are tagged, the line is photographed and measured, and the foundation or floor elevations at the new site are checked against what the press needs. Your OEM or independent press technicians handle the mechanical and electrical separation. Our riggers jack, skate, and lift each unit on its designed support points and move it out along a planned path.
Between plants, units are crated or wrapped as needed and moved as project freight in reassembly order, so the first unit off the truck is the first one the crew needs. At the new floor we set each unit in position for the technicians to join, level, and register.
Multi-unit presses, feeders, coaters, and deliveries moved unit by unit.
Printing units, dryers, chill stands, folders, and reel stands.
Production digital presses and large-format printers moved with vibration care.
Flexographic and narrow-web presses for packaging and labels.
Folders, cutters, stitchers, perfect binders, and mailing lines.
Die cutters, laminators, and packaging lines reassembled in sequence.
Every press is different, but the order of operations is consistent:
Tag every unit and component, photograph connections, and record the line's layout and elevations. Reassembly should follow a map, not memory.
Press technicians disconnect electrical, air, ink, and water systems and separate the units. Cylinders and moving parts are secured for handling.
Units are jacked onto skates or lifted with a gantry or forklift at their designed support points, then moved along a planned, load-checked path.
Units are loaded so they arrive in the order they'll be set, with protection matched to each piece.
Each unit is placed on its foundation or floor position for the technicians to join, level, and bring back to register.
Large presses often need foundations or floor areas prepared to specific flatness and elevation. If the new floor isn't ready when the units arrive, the press sits in the shipping area and the schedule slides. We check the new site early with your technicians and contractor, and schedule deliveries to the day the floor is released โ staging units if needed.
Moving a single bindery machine across the building gets the same care, just a shorter plan. See how we handle machine installation and leveling for the equipment around the press.
